Luigi Ghirri is the photographer I choose for this “ Photography & Frame ” assignment, who was famous at the 1970s for his specific style of photography which combine the fiction and the real world. His style remapped the image world when photography was a very popular activity at that time. He likes to put all his works into different series of groups which linked with different ideas, some can be playful and some can be more realistic. The color showing in his images is really an attractive point for me to look onto his works, himself doublets the film with only black and white and love to giving the world more origin colors. Many of his works relates with his home country Italy, the country which combined balance between modernity and old signs. The environment of the country also relates to his own understanding of photography which is showing the signs of human activities and how human impact the world that human built for themselves. Watching Luigi’s work is really enjoyable because most of his works are always giving people the quiet and silent feelings and makes people wants to see more and being relates to his works. His works was the symbol that leading people and society to think about their relationship with photographing, exposing to the world that how photography can change the way for us to seeing this world. Personally I can feel many of his pictures looks like took by someone who has the symptom of OCD, I believe that is because before Luigi committed himself as a full-time photographer he used to be trained and practiced as a surveyor which formed his own styles of framing works. Which could be ‘The right image’. During the time of imitating his image work I just personally added my own experience about photography and tried to feel what Luigi could feel about the reality I experienced. Which I feel was the most difficult part of this subject. I can experience cold and warm at the same time when I seeing his work, the beautiful fantasy looking from his work I believe was from his clever use of gray. Gray color offers his work a film between reality and the fantasy living in his photos, people like me can always experiencing stories in his image, something will keep continuing, each of his work is like a frame of our daily life but having the super-dimensional expressive and vivid fantasy telling capability.
